Following the refurbishment to replace the school’s existing play equipment, children now have access to a large, wooden play adventure tower incorporating a wide selection of imaginative and adventurous play activities, plus colourful playground surfacing in blue, red, green and yellow.
Richard Pennington, Area Manager at Sovereign commented: “After many years of use, the much loved play equipment at the school was tired and showing signs of wear and tear. We were tasked to come up with something new for the children, resulting in a vibrant play area design that promotes endless opportunities for active play.”
The school were very keen to take on the thoughts of pupils, and as a result, children at the school were in charge of the final selection of play equipment. Plans were gathered from three suppliers and put forward to the children, who then took a vote! Sovereign’s design, which included a modifying a ‘Captain Mannering’ play tower to create an even larger unit, was the one they liked best.
“This was very rewarding for the Sovereign team as the design was cheered on by the children who will be using the equipment every day for many years,” said Richard.
Featuring three roofed play towers connected by two bridges, the modified Captain Mannering provides the space and capacity to satisfy young people of all ages and abilities. It contains an assortment of climbing components, including a draw string bridge, log ramp, sloped rock climbing ramp, slide and fireman’s pole. The area was completed with a new, vibrant playground surface using several brightly coloured wet pour surfacing, along with the addition of a hopscotch and green caterpillar design to bring the area to life even more and provide additional opportunities for playtime.
