Pupils at Elloughton Primary School are benefiting from new play facilities after a refurbishment that has provided increased opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
The newly redeveloped play area was undertaken by Sovereign Play Equipment and provides pupils with a wide selection of creative and interactive activity panels, imaginative play equipment, vibrant colourful playground safety surfacing and artificial grass.
Andy McKay, consultant at Sovereign comments: “The school wanted to present a new and impressive face to the world, with modern and dynamic equipment that the children find exciting. The new play facilities have been carefully selected to not only provide enjoyment to pupils during playtime, but to promote physical activity, social and cognitive development. The school also wanted to make the space useable all year round – and this has been achieved with the addition of colourful slip-resistant playground surfacing. ”
Speaking about the new play equipment, Mrs Carole Fulstow, Headteacher at Elloughton Primary School commented: “A very exciting new project has taken place at Elloughton Primary School to enhance our provision to pupils. We have further developed our outdoor playing area for children with the creation of a new huge wooden activity ship, for climbing, sliding and exploring, as well as many different activity panels to stimulate young imaginations and encourage exciting role play. The children are so excited about naming the ship and we will be having a special naming ceremony along with a Fly the Flag competition later this month.”
The project was made possible following support from parents and generous donations from the Friends of Elloughton School Association and school budget. Now complete, the new playground will allow the school to demonstrate its long term commitment to the development and growth of its pupils as a successful and progressive education provider in the area.
