Bright Sparks Nursery is Ofsted registered with excellent inspection reports and is included on Ofsted’s list of ‘Outstanding Providers’. The nursery is purpose built and is registered to accommodate 40 children at each session, aged from two to five years old.
The Issue
During their initial meeting, Sovereign Area Manager, Katy Huntington and Nursery Manager, Debbie Liddle, discussed the need to extend the play provisions at Bright Sparks. The nursery wanted to make some vital improvements to two areas of the playground.
The Resolution
The nursery loved the look of the Sovereign range of equipment and was impressed with the excellent standard of work at other schools and nurseries where Sovereign had completed installations. The brief was followed closely and the play spaces were designed to meet the nursery’s exact needs.
After presenting Bright Sparks with the proposal, Sovereign was awarded the contract.
The Process
After the nursery relocated to larger, adjacent premises the original demountable nursery building was sold and removed, leaving a large additional area to be re-surfaced and used to extend the existing play area. Sovereign installed a Foxtail Play Tower, artificial grass and Fitness Trail markings, together with safety surfacing to cover up the damaged area left by the nursery building.
The second, smaller area was just rough ground which the nursery wanted to make safe and accessible for the children. Sovereign installed safety surfacing, as well as a gate and fence to separate this part of the playground from the main area. Planter boxes were then added, providing an attractive touch to the playground and offering the children a chance to plant their own seeds.
The Installation

The Results
The children now have a completely transformed, safe playground which encourages their physical development. The fun new adventure tower helps improve their co-ordination, confidence and balance in a challenging way, and the playground markings not only add a burst of colour to the area, but also keep the children active and social whilst they play together.
