The Issue

Situated in Tyne & Wear, Amberley Primary School aspired to provide a new physical outdoor play area for their Key Stage One pupils, as part of the second phase of their long term plan for the area.

The Resolution

An initial meeting was arranged between Headteacher, Tony Rigg and Sovereign’s experienced Sales Area Manager, Katy Huntington. Together they discussed how the PTFA had been raising funds and sought some physical equipment to add to Sovereign’s previous installation of an outdoor classroom.

The Process

After providing a variety of equipment options, one of Sovereign’s ever-popular fitness trails was chosen and modified to consist of low-level items to suit the age range of the children, whilst maintaining its physically challenging nature. A design and quotation was also created for optional wetpour safer surfacing, which could be added at a later date, to exceed safety standards and provide optimum impact protection.

The Installation

Installation of the equipment began and the team from Sovereign worked diligently to complete the works on time. Following the installation of the trail equipment, the School were able to proceed with stage three of their plan and the installation of wetpour took place in early 2019.

The Results

The dynamic, physical play area has transformed the playground, providing an exciting and safe area for the pupils to enjoy. The School are delighted to see that the money raised by the efforts of the PTFA has been used to encourage the pupils to be more active and learn new skills.
