Wells Cathedral Junior School have enhanced their outdoor play area with brand new equipment from Sovereign Play.

The Issue

Located in a historical cathedral in Somerset, Wells Cathedral Junior School were looking to develop their outdoor play space whilst being sensitive to their existing surroundings.

The Resolution

An initial meeting was arranged between Deputy Head, Karl Gibson and Sovereign’s experienced Sales Area Manager, Neil Hudson. Together they discussed the importance of maintaining a natural aesthetic to be in keeping with the setting. Neil suggested that timber trail equipment and bonded rubber mulch would achieve the desired look.

The Process

Following the initial quotation and some revisions, Karl was thrilled with the design. A mixture of high and low level trail items were selected to offer a high-intensity challenge with the Spider Log Climber to encourage risk assessment skills in a creative way. Neil and the Design team worked together to blend the equipment with the area, with the equipment weaving between trees and the mulch safety surface meandering to link it all together.

The Installation

Installation commenced and the Sovereign team worked tirelessly to complete the job within four days. Installation took place over the Christmas break and was a welcome surprise for the staff and children returning for the new term and a new year.

The Results

The play value has increased dramatically for the pupils of Wells Cathedral Junior School and the staff are impressed with how well the play area suits the surroundings. The School are delighted with their exciting new play area that the pupils can explore and enjoy throughout the School year.

Wells Cathedral Junior School have been thrilled with the new playground from staff, parents and especially the children. The service and installation of our new playground was outstanding. Neil understood the particular needs of our site, with the school being of historical significance, and it's surrounding environment. The planning team achieved this quickly and I was able to present the first initial plans quickly to the senior management. Neil was supportive throughout this process as we tweaked the plans to ensure we got it right for the children. The installation team were brilliant installing everything within days, with comments being made from our support staff with how hard they worked. I would have no hesitation to recommending Sovereign for future projects. Thank you Neil and the team.
