Children at Hunslet Carr primary school in Leeds are enjoying a more stimulating outdoor environment after a major transformation has been completed.

Undertaken by Sovereign Play Equipment, what was once a bare playground is now a motivating recreational space that engages the school’s pupils. New facilities include an outdoor amphitheatre, multi-game sports court and gymnastics area, as well as one of Sovereign’s largest adventure play towers, The Zion.

Hunslet Carr wanted to significantly improve its outdoor space with the primary aim to excite and engage with the children. Emma Sherburn, play consultant at Sovereign commented: “This was a large project for the school. Head teacher, Martin Lumb, had a vision to make big changes to the playground and this has been achieved. The new environment ticks all the boxes for increased physical activity, imaginative play and opportunities for outdoor learning.”

Martin Lumb, head teacher at Hunslet Carr commented: “Since completion, the children have loved playing on their new playground. Playtimes and lunchtimes are calmer, safer and happier.”

The completed playground installation not only encourages children to be active and play imaginatively, but it provides a hub of excitement with plenty of activities to keep them engaged during break times and lessons.
