Underhill Community Infants is a two form entry school that shares a site with Underhill Junior School. The schools boast extensive playing fields, as well as two all weather playgrounds and a swimming pool.

The Issue

Having obtained funding, the school wanted to extend its play provision and encourage the children’s physical development, by installing some exciting new play equipment on the school field.

The Resolution

Sovereign was one of several play specialists to provide Underhill with a quote for an adventure trail. Area Sales Manager, Leigh Kosta met with Head Teacher, Elizabeth Moore, who was very specific about the school’s requirements.  After going through the wish list together, Leigh then put forward the ideal proposal. Due to the team’s understanding of the brief and the fact that they were able to present equipment that matched the requirements, Underhill awarded Sovereign the contract.

The Process

Elizabeth Moore came to the conclusion that Sovereigns’ Trim Trail would be an exciting, age appropriate addition for the children, aged seven and under. Normally the Area Sales Manager would offer several options of trail as the majority of Head Teachers cannot devote time to picking individual pieces at the appointment but as Elizabeth was so specific, she and Leigh were able to go through the trail components and come up with a definitive choice.

The Installation

Sovereign installed the Trim Trail which consisted of Stepping Stones, a Rope Net Tunnel, Scramble Net Log Climber and Horizontal Monkey Bars, onto Bonded Rubber Mulch on the school playing field. All installation work was completed in eight days.

The Results

The children now have a stimulating new extension to their play space which encourages physical development in a challenging, exhilarating, yet safe way. The Trim Trail also develops problem solving skills and promotes turn-taking, aiding social development.

  • Age appropriate equipment for fun, stimulating play
  • Social, physical and mental development
  • Installed onto Rubber Mulch where necessary in accordance with BS EN requirements, allowing the School to spend more of their Budget on equipment rather than surfacing

After being presented with the component list by the Area Sales Manager, it became clear that Sovereign had understood the brief. The equipment was a great choice for the new addition to our playground. It was a quick process and the children are over the moon with their new Trim Trail.
