Our Materials

Over recent years, Sovereign has been awarded a number of recognised accreditations and certifications. We work diligently to ensure that all the materials used in our products come from sustainable sources and meet with the strict guidelines laid down by the relevant organisations and authorities.

Timber: All posts come with a 20-year warranty* against rot and infestation and are BS EN 1176 compliant. Our main timber posts are slow grown from managed, sustainable sources and pressure treated to exacting standards. Support posts on Trim Trails and Pergolas are circular with rounded edges to reduce the risk of injury. In 2008, Sovereign gained the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accreditation for Mixed Sources.

Metal: All metal components are covered by a one-year warranty* and either made from stainless steel or steel that has been put through pre-treatment processes to provide non-toxic, weatherproof and extreme atmospheric resistance properties.

Rope and Nets: We only use galvanised steel core ropes that are nylon coated with hydraulically pressed ends and carry a one-year warranty*. All joints and connectors are made from heavy-duty metal or moulded plastic.

Roof Units and Coloured Panels: These panels are made from co-extruded high density polyethylene, which benefits from being vandal resistant, chemical resistant, UV stable and provides excellent wipe clean surfaces.

Safer Surfacing: No matter how safe the equipment, there is always a risk that a child will trip or lose their grip and fall. Therefore we offer a range of ‘Safer Surface’ products aimed at cushioning a child in the event of an accident. These include: bark chippings, artificial grass surfacing, EPDM wet pour safer surface, Grassaver and Grassguard. When installing these safer surfaces, we calculate the critical fall height and install to the correct depth in accordance with BS EN 1177 standards. All our EPDM wet pour surfaces carry a five-year warranty*.

Playground Markings: We use the best product materials available that are long lasting, extra reflective, free of lead and chromates and non-slip. Because we use a Class A product and lay the graphics using our own teams of trained personnel, all our markings carry a five-year warranty* that not only covers the performance of the material, but also the application.
