Work pays off for special school

A new interactive playground has been opened by the Mayor of Worcester following the completion of a project at one of the city’s special schools.

The first phase of the new equipment was unveiled at Fort Royal Community Primary School by Councillor David Tibbutt and boasts a wealth of new play and learning facilities. Equipment supplied by Sovereign includes an array of music panels, activity sensory panels for role play, a roll over bridge with disability access, a multi-sports area for playing basketball and football and timber trail physical activity equipment.

The school’s outdoor environment also benefits from toadstools and benches for seating, as well as a giant roadway for trikes, bikes and wheelchair use. The areas were developed using £20,000 of funds collected by the school since it opened in September 2007.

The school is now planning to embark on phase two of its project. Click here for the full article and comments from the school.
